It is said that kundalini is coiled energy located at the base of spine. It is pulled up through the body by practicing the kundalini yoga. On practicing this yoga, seven chakras got awakened and the untapped energy flows through the body. So, it is effective for glands, nervous system, etc. It is necessary to emphasis on breathing and movement while performing the kundalini sequence. It is comprised of breathing, asanas, dhayana and chanting, so it is important that a person practicing kundalini yoga should be capable of facing physical and mental challenges.
You can perform this yoga and can raise the potential energy in the body.There are krias, pranayams and asanas. While exercising these, a person focuses on the certain part of the body. Hence, it helps in developing the concentration level.
There are 7 kundalini postures. Perform these poses to stimulate and energize the body. These poses help to clear chakras.
- Crow Pose
- Sit on your feet on the ground and stretch your arms in front (palms facing down)
- Now bend your knees, brining your hands down and palms touching the floor.
- Slowly try to keep your knees on the upper arms (Above your elbows).
- Now move forward.
- Frog Pose-
- Sit on the floor on feet.
- Raise the heels and keep your fingers on ground.
- Now un-bend the knees while inhaling.
- Squat down while exhaling.
- Stretch Pose-
- Lie on the ground.
- Raise the head and the feet from the ground.
- Also raise your arms and gaze at the toes.
- Camel Pose-
- Kneel down on the floor.
- Take your hands on the side of your body, raising the chest upwards.
- Try to grasp your feet with the hands.
- Raise navel and chest upwards.
- Hold the pose for some time.
- Cobra Pose-
- Lie flat on your stomach.
- Keep your hands near to your chest with the arms facing the ground.
- Start Inhaling and lift upper half of your body.
- Balance your weight on your palms without moving the lower half of the body.
- Raise your head, facing the sky (resembling the hooked snake).
- Now, slowly exhale and bring your to the initial position (lying flat on stomach).
- Guru Pranam-
- Kneel down and sit on your heels.
- Bend the torso and bring the forehead to the ground.
- Stretch your arms and join your hands touching the ground.
- Sat Kriya-
- Kneel down and sit on your heels.
- Raise your arms up, arms should touch the ears.
- Close your eyes.
- Lock your fingers except the index finger.
- For men- they lock the right thumb over left.
- For Women- they lock theleft thumb over right.
- Now chant 'Sat Nam' and while chanting Sat try to draw in the Navel and release the naval on chanting Nam. Pull the energy up the spine.
